Bollywood veteran Chunky Panday recently shared an emotional moment with his daughter Ananya Panday during an interview with We Are Yuvaa. The father-daughter duo delved into their personal and professional lives, revealing untold stories about their journeys in Bollywood.
When Ananya, fresh off the success of her Netflix film CTRL, asked why she was never invited to his film shoots, Chunky candidly admitted it was during a particularly challenging phase in his career.
Chunky Panday on His Low Phase
Chunky explained, “When your mom and I got married, I was in that low phase. I had just returned from Bangladesh and was trying to secure work for myself. I never got into the habit of calling you or your mom on set. It just stayed that way.”
Switching Gears: From Lead Roles to Character Roles
Ananya further asked if the shift from lead roles to character roles was daunting. Chunky responded, “It was scary. When the music stops in musical chairs, you don’t have a seat.
After Aankhen, I actually had no work. I only got Teesra Kaun, and everything dried up after that. I eventually went to Bangladesh, did movies there, and thankfully, those worked.”
A Career Revived
Chunky Panday, who debuted in the 1987 film Aag Hi Aag and starred in hits like Tezaab and Khatron Ke Khiladi, found a resurgence in the 2010s. His portrayal of Aakhri Pasta in the Housefull franchise became iconic, leading to a new chapter in his acting career.
What’s Next for the Pandays?
While Chunky is reprising his role in Housefull 5, Ananya is gearing up for her next big project alongside Akshay Kumar and R. Madhavan.
