Film editor Nishadh Yusuf was discovered dead at his Kochi home.

Kochi: On Wednesday, Nishadh Yusuf, 43, a Malayalam film editor, was discovered dead at his home in Pamapally Nagar. In his apartment, his body was discovered hanging.

The cause of death has not yet been made public by the police, and investigations are still ongoing.

On their official Facebook page, the Kerala Directors’ Union’s Film Employees Federation posted the heartbreaking news. “The film industry will struggle to come to terms with the sudden passing of Nishadh Yusuf, a pivotal figure in shaping the future of contemporary Malayalam cinema,” they said in their tribute to the renowned editor. For his work on the movie Thallumaala, Nishadh won the 2022 Kerala State Film Award for Best Editing. He was also honored at the Critics’ Choice Film Awards in India 2023. Among his well-known pieces are Chaver, Saudi Vellakka, Unda, and Operation Java.

Nishadh recently agreed to work on his most well-known project, the pan-Indian movie Kanguva, which will be released in theaters on November 14 and stars Bobby Deol and Suriya.

According to PTI, which cited police, renowned film editor Nishadh Yusuf was discovered dead in a Kochi apartment on Wednesday. Around two in the morning, he was discovered dead inside his Panampilly Nagar apartment. According to the preliminary investigation, Yusuf may have committed suicide.
