The much-awaited trailer for Viduthalai Part 2, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Vetrimaaran, is finally here.
Following last year’s suspenseful first chapter, fans of the compelling period crime thriller have been anxiously anticipating the sequel..The trailer, released by RS Infotainment, promises an intense continuation of the saga, with Vijay Sethupathi reprising his role as Perumaal Vaathiyaar.
What’s in the Trailer?
The sequel picks up exactly where Viduthalai Part 1 concluded. Perumaal Vaathiyaar, played by Vijay Sethupathi, takes charge of a rebellion with the extremist group Makkal Padai (People’s Army), continuing the fight for liberation.
The second chapter offers a candid depiction of social issues and, like its predecessor, dives into powerful themes of oppression, communalism, and institutionalized brutality.

About Viduthalai Part 2
The film, co-written by Vetrimaaran and B. Jeyamohan, is an adaptation of Jeyamohan’s short story Thunaivan. Initially planned as a single film, Vetrimaaran expanded the narrative into a two-part franchise.
The first part, released last year, earned critical acclaim and collected ₹40 crore at the box office.With legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja helming the music, R Velraj as the cinematographer, and R Ramar as the editor, the sequel promises a cinematic experience on par with its predecessor.
The film features an ensemble cast including Soori, Manju Warrier, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, and Anurag Kashyap, alongside Vijay Sethupathi. Viduthalai Part 2 is set to release in cinemas on December 20, 2024, clashing with the Tamil versions of two other big films: Baby John, a Bollywood action thriller starring Varun Dhawan, and Barry Jenkins’ Hollywood animated feature Mufasa: The Lion King.
